Well I guess it isn't that much help, just more about any good tips to play the game. I can play and win on the first two difficulty settings, but are there any tips that I should know before going on to harder difficulty settings? Thanks in advance for everyones help.

Civilization, a simulation type game where you control a civilization and try and build it up

Try reading some of the tips here: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/strategy/civ4_haters.php
Some of them seem obvious but some are actually quite helpful. _________________

One piece of advice don't try to build every wonder there is in the game, pick the ones you really need and focus on building city improvements instead. A lot of new players easy fall for the must build every wonder plan only to discover their cities lack the necessary improvements need to defend the civilization when the AI comes a knocking with a stack of doom.
As Winsord mention heading over to Civfanatics you will find a lot of help there especially in their forums. One piece of advice about their forums, keep out of the off topic section it's a mad house in there. Also other sites you may want to check out is Apolyton ( the oldest Civ community around) & WePlayCiv (just started this year). On itunes you may want to check out the PolyCast a podcast about Civilization, after starting to listen to this podcast I've found myself starting to use different tactics from what I was using before. Well I hope this info will help you in mastering the higher difficulty levels. _________________ |

Polycast has it's pros and cons, they certainly waffle on a lot. I love the mods section though. One peice of advice I would give is to pick a civ that matches your playing style. If you like offense, pick an offensive civ. If you like building up your civ for a tech or financial victory, pick Civs that get bonuses in this area. Pick a map that suits your civ or vice versa. Start with a strategy and stick with it unless you realise that it's hopeless - don't keep chopping and changing or try to strategise on the fly - you'll lose for sure. Leave your inner bases lightly (or un) defended, but set up an army of defenders +1 unit back up at least in your fringe cities. Explore hard early and get a galley out to explore as maybe your third unit. GTG, busy CRC _________________
